Important Notice
In January 2009 the University is starting a
major refurbishment of the Catering Building and Theatre Bar. This project is planned to last for fifteen
months and it necessitates the closure of the Theatre Bar and Common Room. Consequently the following arrangements will
apply to the operation of the Film Society as from Wednesday 7th
January.
The entrance to the Theatre will be from the
covered walkway at the rear of Walton Hall, the original building on the
campus. The Society’s desk for
information and tickets will be just inside the door and further into the
Theatre will be the point where all tickets will be checked.
The Cellar Bar under Walton Hall will be open
and drinks may be taken to the Theatre.
The entrance to the bar is from the external door half way along the
side of Walton Hall and then down the stairs as signed. Anyone who has difficulty accessing the
Cellar Bar can ask at the Society’s desk for a member of the committee to fetch
them a drink. There will be a table in
the Theatre for leaving empty glasses after the screening. A bell will be rung in the bar five minutes
before the film starts.
The toilets at the top of the stairs to the
Cellar Bar will be available throughout the evening.
From the Theatre there will also be available
two single toilets in the old changing room area, which is located behind the
wall on which the screen is mounted.
Access is through the doors to the right of the screen. People are asked if possible not to use these
toilets whilst the film is being shown, as their passage across the Theatre
floor will distract the audience’s attention.
During the period of the above arrangements
the display of Society information will be solely on the notice board in the
covered walkway.
A copy of this notice to take away is
available at the Society’s desk.
