HAPPY-GO-LUCKY
HAPPY-GO-LUCKY Sep 10 - 6:15 PM and 8:45 PM
Mike Leigh’s latest is (unusually) a comedy. It centres on Poppy (Sally Hawkins), a teacher who is unrelentingly optimistic. There are lots of humorous moments as we follow her for a few weeks. There are also some troubles and conflicts with her family, her driving instructor and with a case of bullying at school. However, Poppy deals with everything with intelligence, courage and most importantly humour, making this an enjoyable uplifting film with real heart. Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlinale.
