In a prison where the inmates’ power is split between the Corsicans and the Muslims 19-year-old illiterate hoodlum Malik is just starting his stint. He hopes to keep out of trouble but is very naïve and is soon recruited to help run criminal activities. Gradually Malik works himself into a position of power and at the same time plans for his life after prison. Winner of the Grand Prix Cannes 2009.
