Macário wants to marry Luisa but needs his uncle’s permission, which is refused.
Macário stomps out and goes abroad, returning wealthy. The marriage is now set to
go ahead, but problems with a shady partner leave him penniless. This time, his uncle
is much more forthcoming, but then on the eve of the wedding Luisa attempts a bit of
shoplifting.
