Set in the Carpathian Mountains, the arrival of the police in Varga’s village reveals the terrible secret she has kept to herself for years and results in her expulsion. She and her son set off into the mountains seeking those whose actions have caused her such distress. Yet she finds that the morality of the situation may not be as black and white as she presumed. Won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale.
