The first part of a two-part biopic of France’s most notorious criminal, Jacques Mesrine – we show the concluding part next week. A tense opening sequence that shows Mesrine drive unwittingly into an ambush, an event subsequently mirrored in scenes of him as a young soldier committing brutal acts in Algeria. Returning to France he comes under the wing of suave kingpin Guido, and a series of increasingly unlikely incidents culminate in a audacious breakout from a Canadian prison.
