Seraphine

Winner of seven Césars (including best film) and based on the life of French painter Séraphine de Senlis, Martin Provost creates an elegant biopic about an ordinary forty-year-old cleaning lady whose employer (the art collector Wilhelm Uhde) discovers her talent as a brilliant painter. They are both outsiders: he because of his sexuality, she because of her talent. An unexpected and moving relationship develops between the two in this finely acted and beautifully shot picture.
