Tony Manero

This film can be seen as an allegory of life in Chile under the Pinochet regime in 1978. The main character, Raúl, is obsessed with winning a Tony Manero (star of Saturday Night Fever) lookalike contest. Raúl is a deeply unsympathetic character who commits robbery, murder and exploits anyone to realise his dream. Alfredo Castro won a couple of best actor international awards for playing the part of Raúl..
